Through the addition of an in-cab mobile data terminal (MDT), comprising a small screen and keypad, text messages can be sent to and from the vehicle.

A message can be sent by the operator to one or all vehicles in the fleet. The driver(s) then have an option of sending back a pre-programmed standard response via a single key press or pulling over to type a more detailed reply via a keypad (optional extra).
